Calgary Zoo: Fun Zone - Toddler Playground

Inside the Calgary Zoo near the tigers and southern entrance. (Admission to the Zoo is required).

Gordie's Review (15 months old) - Great stairs!  Didn't want to leave.

Age Range: Recommended 2-5

Ground Cover: Wood Chips
Features: 2 playstructures with 3 slides; 4 bouncy riders (2 pre-schooler, 2 toddler)
Surrounding Park Area: Play area is completely fenced with only one entrance/exit; seating is available outside the fence; Carousel and train ride are nearby ($3 per rider, tokens can be bought with exact change by the carousel or at the front gate)

Shade: little to some depending on the time of day

Seating: about 6 picnic tables and 2 child size picnic tables outside the fence.

Stroller/wheelchair access: great to the park but not inside the play area

Overall assessment: Great playground for early walkers up to age 5. Not worth going to the zoo for by itself, but if you have a zoo pass or need a little free play around lunch time it is perfect. It felt quite safe for my 15 month old - I had to keep an eye on him, but he was able to do lots independently .I even felt comfortable being on the outside of the fence (while watching carefully) for a short time while I could see him. Kids aged 2.5 and up would be able to be very independent.
