Gordie's Review (18  months old) - Appletrees!

Cost: Free
Supervision: Unsupervised. It is monitored by security video recording equipment though.
Age Range: Children must be under 42" to go inside the maze.  I would recommend it most for children 2 - 7.
Surface: Carpet. I'm not sure if it is a safe fall surface, but there is nothing to climb on.
Footwear: Shoes.
Play Area Features: Children's maze with two peek-a-boo domes; 3 panels on the outside of the maze; 4 panels on a box at the front of the maze.
Security Features: The maze has three entrances/exits all at the front of the play area so it is easy to keep an eye on your kids.
Additional Kid Friendly Services: Family washroom with nursing station in the food court; Diapers available at customer service for $1; Kiddie Kabs available free at customer service; Children's entertainment at the Family Park Rest Area on the third Saturday of every month.

Overall Assessment:

This play space is billed as more of a rest area than a playground and this is probably appropriate. It is a perfect place for parents to take a break and let the kids run around, but it isn't going to hold their attention for a particularly long time. However, the maze design was a nice change of pace from the typical mall play area. Gordie was a little young for the maze but he could still go through it independently. His favourite thing was walking around the outside of the maze looking at the apples.

  1. thanks for this review and this blog. I have to visit my dad at the PLC and we live in Signal Hill SW so we have no idea what the malls have in the NE. My husband plans to entertain our kids there while I head to the PLC> Thanks!
