Overall Assessment: Ikea is one of the most family friendly stores I know. They really do make it easy for you to take your kids shopping. Gordie always looks forward to playing in the Children’s Ikea Play area. His favorite thing to do right now is to climb up the little slide. The Restaurant is also very family friendly. There are inexpensive children’s menu items and you can get a free jar of baby food with the purchase of an adult entree. They also have a microwave in the food court if you need to heat up some baby food or a bottle. The play area in the food court has bar style seating around it, so if you take longer to eat than your kids, you can still monitor them while you eat in peace or even just have a coffee. The $1 breakfasts are also a great deal. If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat when you’re leaving they have hot dogs ($0.50), frozen yogurt ($1) and a few other items just after the checkouts. Gordie’s too young to go to Småland, but I’d love to hear what other people have to say about it. Overall, we really enjoy going to ikea, we usually don’t make the trip unless we have some shopping to do, but if we lived closer, we might!

My kids love the play areas all around Ikea. The one in the childrens area is especially fun, and the one in the food court has a TV with a movie playing so that is also great. If there are two parents, either spot is a good place to wait while the other is ordering food. The three sided places are fun, but often not working. We tried to go to Småland on the weekend for the first time, but it was a 45 minute wait, which was way too long, so we had to skip. I would like to go on a weekday, and then maybe we can try it out.
